Charles, you've stop giving this man a platform. He is downright offensive and talks with authority about things he clearly does not understand. Many, many people signed up for the most honourable of reasons, because they felt it was the right thing to do, to protect their own as well as allies and family in other countries. Germany has a long history of going to war that dates back hundreds of years, which is why it was still being occupied by allied forces, including the British, US, Canadian and French forces until 1990, when the Berlin wall officially "came down" and Germany was re-unified. It had been decided, post second world war, that on re-unification the occupying forces would pull out because Germany would not be able to afford to go to war again. The East was in poverty and the West had to fund their rise to equality and parity with the West, including infrastructure, banking, social reforms and so on - which came at huge cost. Prior to the fall of the Berlin wall Germany was not allowed to fly war planes or armed aircraft outside their own airspace and their forces were not included in missions to other countries. Once the wall came down those restrictions eased off. Mr. Watters says everyone should forget the war, Hitler, the victims and heroic soldiers who fought so bravely to defend all of our countries and freedoms. "Lest we Forget", as the poem says, is a line adopted not only for the fallen heroes, it is the reason we keep reminding each other of the great wars - it can happen again. Germany still has a lot of Nazis and a lot of resentment towards the allies. When the wall came down swastikas were spray painted on public buildings. Mr. Watters, if everyone had your attitude we would probably be living in Nazi occupied Canada. God bless the heroes who fought and saved us from that possibility.
i remember victory meat market being accuse d on this blog of disrespect to the vets and fallen by opening on rememberance day but this man can say what he wants to.
Well said @11:43. DW's ability to speak freely about his beliefs was fought for and defended by the heroes he puts down. He is a well educated but ignorant man.

ReplyDeleteOh dear Charles - you want to sound like this man? Your blog is done for. I thought you didn't like opinionated snobs who talk without knowing.
