It's $200 a month and for that they get a bed, heat, lights, television, an address to use for employment, EI or social assistance, support from staff, a drug and alcohol free safe environment as well as access to food and clothing donations. Don't belittle what the organisation does with very little support. Many homeless people are drug addicts and alcoholics. If they were allowed to party every night the shelter would be covered in blood and cops. Those people end up in tent city and it is probably not cleaned up because they are back every summer. There needs to be real funding for the people who cannot get into charity run shelters, who don't have ID and have addiction problems.
