Unless our politicians are going to build a glass dome over Fredericton, large amounts of air pollution will be a certainty from the shale gas industry. Fredericton has a 10km+ radius of shale gas license areas surrounding our city.
Here's a list of some of the main air pollution chemicals given off by shale gas wells, much of them are heavier-than-air chemicals which stay close to the ground and collects in low-lying valleys such as Fredericton.
Most of these chemicals are powerful cancer-causing chemicals. The rest, such as particulate matter and smog, cause heart disease, asthma & other lung disease, and exacerbate existing heart and lung disease.
