That's actually a good point. The company in Quebec sued under NAFTA just for a moratorium, so there's no doubt SWN would sue. Shale gas, under regulation and legislation and in the limited amount its currently done in NB certainly poses no more environmental hazard than forestry. So why aren't the Greens STOPPING forestry in the same way as stopping fracking?
I was surprised at this because you'd think they would at least say they would have a REFERENDUM. They could even say at the outset that it would be legally binding so that in case they DID get sued, they could say they had no choice-although I don't think that has any bearing in NAFTA lawsuits, but at least the PR would help.
Its a decent platform, and the only good thing about it-since it will simply take away liberal votes and help Alward win, is that it may change the policies of the two main parties. What is really unfortunate is that if you look at the size of the liberal AND conservative party membership, IF all those greens actually joined the liberal party and ran for nominees, its pretty likely we'd see a fairly green liberal party. This, way, neither of the two main parties have to listen to them at all, and won't if their polling numbers stay the same.
is there a good party ???????? i have yet found one ........ i think a not voting is the best solution it shows that we are fed up with the b/s instead of voting we should protest
Billions in lawsuits from ripping up contracts. Sure, vote Green.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you call what this government has done to us? Check the deficit. I can smell a Conservative or a Liberal a hundred miles away.
