It was bound to happen.
You just can't have someone growing up giving out personal views on different issues and expect this individual to change over night do you???
Sorry but Brad Woodside had to come out with his views on certain issues.
Of course, he did just that today and it's causing an uproar within the Acadian population.
Of course, in the old days? I would run over and interview the Mayor on this touchy issue but what can I do since this Mayor agreed that my Blog should be shut down therefore calling me an homophobic, racist and I was exploiting kids for Sex.
How does that old saying goes - What goes around comes......
By the way? Just for the record? The Mayor is not a Bigot and I understand what's he's trying to say about Bilingualism. He should have his views debated not crucified!!!!
You CANNOT condemn an individual for speaking about an issue that many New Brunswickers are thinking about!!!
Let him have his say!!
Did I just supported our Fascist Mayor?????
I better go see my Doctor!!!!
Here's an old video I found -
Except that he didn't bring it up to have it 'discussed'. The premier asked for cost cutting measures, and Woodside essentially said to stop giving money to a separately french educational system, which is enshrined in the canadian charter, which means you'd think a mayor would have the brains to know that.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't say 'lets look at administrative salaries' or 'lets look at saving money on school transportation' or anything like that. He simply said that he 'understands bilingualism' but not 'duality'. In other words, as the mayor of the capital of new brunswick, he doesn't seem to understand the basic constitutional rights of a protected linguistic group. But that shouldn't really surprise you Charles. That he is a bigot was shown ages ago with the gay rights parade. This simply confirms it.
And no doubt its simply for political reasons, over at CBC there are dozens of people congratulating him and thanking him.
Its also simply idiotic and has Irvings hands all over it. Whenever the province starts talking about cost cutting, something linguistic comes up to distract people. The history of New Brunswick is writing a new forestry act so Irving can get cheaper wood, handing over land for a pipeline with virtually no concessions, letting the aquaculture industry operate unregulated, handing Irving hundreds of millions of dollars in saving for a gas plant, letting shale gas operators operate with a pathetic royalty structure. Bernard Lord cancels all the taxes that small businesses had to pay, Shawn Graham cuts the taxes for the wealthiest New Brunswickers, Bennett Environmental is given land and government contracts til they go belly up, same with Atcon. Alward cancels the provincial portion of property taxes on investment and recreational homes, the province has the second lowest corporate income tax rate in the country when no new corporation has set foot in the province in years. One of Gallant's first acts is to pad judges salaries up to close to the 300 grand mark for what is often part time work.
And then the government says "hey, we've got no money, where can we cut?" And on goes the language debate while Irvings sit in Bermuda and laugh their asses off while paupers impoverish each other.
Freedom of speech, Freedom of expression. Freedom of opinion. Great aint it??? And, indeed, we all do have it in this country, no matter our walk of life or our position in society. Why, we could very easily be living under the rule of Nazi Germany and flying the flag of the swashtika had we not stopped the bastards in their tracks.
ReplyDeleteNow that you are launching assaults against the mayor I wonder how long you will keep this blog.
