Someone jumped off the Westmorland Bridge in Fredericton last night.....
Someone jumped from the Westmorland Bridge last night....if we had a New Brunswick Public Safety who went beyond helping people. Maybe this wouldn't happen. Maybe they should put signs or phone on Bridge? As I said - This is a Police State...Safety of New Brunswickers are at risk. Noticed they never announce an Inquiry on Michel Vienneau, Daniel Levesque and the people who died in Provincial Jails??? Lets not forget Public Safety are forcing the less fortunate to walk home with a Google Mao after their Jail sentence is over. The Federal Government must get involved!!!!
Charles,
The answer is obvious it all about the money and public perception, if you been convicted you become an untouchable ( a piece of shit ), employment is denied, (which is self-defeating because that increases the chance of re-offending, how does society benefit from that. Oh right, Correction is big business, salaries supply.
(Hypothetically speaking if You closed down the Jails and a system so effective that now one committed offence) our local economy would collapse). So the political will isn't there to do much in that respect, from the provincial point of view upon release as far as the offenders are concerned (These Boots are made for walking, Start walking -- Nancy Sinatra).
The elitism that you speak of is nothing new. I was a very good presentation by Gary Forward and his talk he brought that up, I think the time period was in the late 18 hundreds. He reported that a rich person could beat the shit out of their wives, and get a fine of 3.00$ while a street vagrant for drunkenness would get 30 days in Jail.
That is still very prevalent in today's world. They are the most racist, discriminatory and Judgmental group. Why its hard to pin them down is that they will never admit it, they get into causes that masked their prejudice belief and make themselves look good. The phoney baloney.
I mean even hill cemetery has plots to cater to the elites, namely more expensive.
For F#$k sake most of them give their cats and dogs more status and respect then they do the indigents.
Maybe the elites are so insecure that they need the indigents to make themselves feel successful.
As long as we have this class system, offenders, people with mental illness will always have a dark shadow. However there are some in the community that works very hard to help those who are at a social disadvantage and seen as the bottom of the barrel, they are the true humanists.
