I noticed the Flag at Half Mast this afternoon. I asked around who died but nobody knew!!
I walked inside and was told the Hotel Manager Geoff Gallant died at a young age of 39 years old!
I couldn't believe it. He approached me last summer at Officer's Square and we had a long interesting chat.
He invited me to take pictures on top of the Hotel and I did just that weeks later.
It is VERY sad....I wonder what happened???
Here's the latest...:(
Gallant, Geoffrey John
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Geoffrey John Gallant announces his death. Geoff was the son of Beth Clancy and Jack Gallant. He was a brother to Danny (Tiffany), Terry (Faith) and Kristen (Dylan). Geoff leaves behind his wife Michelle and his children Owen, Lucas and Brenna. Geoff was an amazing Dad and dearly loved his children.
Geoff was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and he shared this passion with his children. Geoff strongly believed in the importance of community. He sat on several boards and participated in many community events. If you visited the Crowne Plaza in Fredericton, you may have been greeted by his smiling face and outgoing personality.
Geoff will be missed by his maternal grandmother, Betty Clancy, and paternal grandfather, Freeman Gallant, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. We would like to thank the Crowne Plaza in Fredericton for all they did for us over these last few days. Your kindness is very much appreciated. Also we would like to thank the kind and caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
Geoffrey Gallant will be resting at Maher's Funeral Home Miramichi on Sunday April 17, 2016 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 18, 2016 at 11am from St Samuel's Roman Catholic Church, Douglastown, with Fr Maurice Swift officiating. As an expression of sympathy a donation to the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society ( www.toomuchiron.ca) whose vision is to end suffering and premature death related to hemochromatosis in Canada or to the memorial of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
