ReplyDeleteIt is not correct that summary charges do not qualify for legal aid. I know many people who got it, for far less serious offences. It is also supposed to be provided automatically, for people on welfare, who cannot afford printers, paper, ink, service of documents etc, so Charles is getting very unconstitutional treatment. Mostly, Legal Aid counsel's job these days is to persuade people to plead guilty. They strategically deny it to certain people, who they want to "fail and jail". New Brunswick (esp. Fredericton) is one of the most corrupt, unhealthy places - and many agree. To the poster at 12:49 - are you Matt Myers? What a sick, twisted puppy you are.
