Just got the News this morning!!!!

  1. Wrong again Charles. Legal Aid didn't deny your right to a lawyer, what they said is that the taxpayers of NB (people who go to work to support your welfare payments) will not be on the hook for your legal expenses. Go out and get a J-O-B so you can hire your own lawyer.

I really hope you've started packing your stuff because the judge will rightfully sentence you to a jail term.

  2. Mr. Leblanc: You are so right. The Legal System in this province is corrupt. No question about it. What I wonder is; how much extra do they get for putting mentally challenged people in jail?
This case reminds me of the movie Django Unchained.

  3. I guess it's true - there really is no legal aid in New Brunswick. So much for rights to a fair trial.

  4. The grand illusion is that everyone under the law is to be treated equally, however reality is that equality is dependent on how much you are willing to pay for legal representation. There seems to be a correlation between the greater the expense the better representation. For example, look at the Denis Oland case, accused of killing his father, businessperson Richard Oland and has the financial resources to spend millions on his defense verses the average Joe in the same situation who cannot afford legal representation. Chances are the average Joe would currently be in Jail waiting for his trial, while Dennis Oland is free waiting for his trial.

Whether or not Charles is guilty of assault is not the real issue. The real issue is that those without a legal background or experience are less likely to succeed against a prosecutor who knows the laws, the strategies and techniques of persuasion. If you think of law as a big chess game with rules, moves and strategies, then those who are representing themselves are like the novice chess player going against a grand master, winning is possible but highly unlikely. Chances are that if a Lawyer would have been provided on the onset of this case. This case would have been resolved one way or another a long time ago without tying up significant court time on a simple offense of assault. In other words, it would have been much cheaper to provide legal representation instead of denying legal representation.

  5. The FPD , Lawyers and Judges are all corrupt and when they get in trouble you got some damn Union getting them an expensive ex-politician to defend them.We need to be more like the states and vote in our judges and police chiefs instead if them being appointed by city council who is as corrupt as they are.....

  6. Well said 10:33 - and 20:38 clearly doesn't understand the basic principles of justice or constitutional rights to a fair trial, which goes beyond guilt or innocence. People on welfare cannot afford photocopying, printing and stationary and often don't even have a printer or computer to prepare documents - assuming they have the mental health and literacy skills to read and write legal documents. Shame on you at 20:38. You are clearly prejudiced.

  7. The problem, then, which the human race as well as each individual has
to solve is that of being born.
