if you think the killer was smart and well read you better get your head examined. He was clearly delusional and ill informed about the workings of society. To say such a thing is to provide support to his deranged way of thinking. please don't provide any affirmation of his valuse. think of the famalies of the deceased officers. shame on you
Respect for families should never override criticism. His face was scratched up, but frankly I'd be surprised if he wasn't at least treated pretty rough, and while I"m as critical of police as anybody, in this case I don't have a whole lot of sympathy. That said, I didn't listen to this 'debate', so I'm commenting on the content. But people don't just get up one morning and say "i think I'll threaten some police today". While Charles comments and tactics are often over the top, we know that the social problems lie with the police...not with charles (thats also not endorsing threats, that shouldn't be tolerated by anyone.)
The first two commenters - you need to get real. Bourque has opened a public debate and if you people had bothered to read the transcript, and actually listen to him, you would realise he is very well educated and very intelligent. By his own admission he "snapped" and he also confirmed that he did not expect to live through the escapade. He pretty much went on a suicide mission. He also stated in his transcript that, while he was not looking forward to spending the rest of his life in prison, he felt life was pretty much a prison anyway. The people who tell us all to shut up, not debate and not listen to people like Justin need to get your minds right: he is a symptom, not a cause, and there will indeed be many more "hopeless" cases if this province doesn't smarten up and start creating real opportunity for the younger generation, whose only prospects right now are working endless hours for minimum wage.
