I think that everything said was actually very reasonable. However, what about this? suppose you wrote a catchier title? I am not suggesting your information is not good., but suppose you added a post title to possibly grab a person's attention? I mean "Idiot on the St.John River in Fredericton today!!!" is kinda vanilla.
You should peek at Yahoo's front page and see how they create news headlines to get viewers to open the links. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get people interested about what you've written. In my opinion, it could make your website a little livelier.
