While it is okay for the Mayor to invent a by-law to evict people from in front of City Hall and it is okay for the Police to lie to get access to Charles' Blog, they have committed no crimes? I know that I for one, will not be voting for the Mayor and Councillors in the next election. They believe it is okay for them to commit crimes but not others.. The worst of it was the tax payers were on the hook for the Mayor's sins. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Sad to see this because there were lots of stories of the less fortunate in this City.
Maybe this is the reason he ordered Google to shut down my Blog????
Is he going to go after this one also????
Do you know any other City in Canada that should allow this???
I believe it's time for the Mayor to go!!!
Your right these Dictators should be Thrown out. Chris is a Great Guy,likes to work on His own using the Cities Letterhead but Hates Free Speech!

The mayor didn't order Google to remove the blog. Chris MacPherson didn't order Google to remove it. Neither did the city police. A complaint was filed, and Google decided to remove it from *its* servers.

ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the Mayor can use a fabricated by-law to evict protestors from in front of the courthouse and no one calls it a crime? Why is it that the FPF can lie to a judge to get access to Charles' Blog and this is not considered illegal? All the councillors sided with the Mayor so none of them will get my vote next election. And finally why did the tax payer have to pay for the crimes of the Mayor and not him? We live in a very crooked Province.
ReplyDeleteI have requested Google to take down an extremely offensive blogsite and they refused - would only take down posts that lied about me, not others. So Google are very hypocritical. They have stolen Charles' intellectual property and the fact they did it at the request of the City shows they treat the public differently to the establishment. They are now thieves as well as hypocrites. They should have only removed the offensive posts.
ReplyDeleteActually, while I don't like what Charles was writing either, you can go to Google's terms of service and its quite clear that he didn't break them. Harassment and libel are both against the law, which means the police force or city could have charged charles with either of them, then if it was proven in court, then google could say that it was their terms of service contract broken. Nowhere on there website do they actually define what the MEAN by libel or harassment, which means virtually any time anybody says anything about anybody else, a complaint could go to Google, and they would shut it down, which would leave very few blogs.
ReplyDeleteBrad Woodside is great at deflecting his responsibility for the municipal police force and completely ignoring the fact that they committed fraudulent misrepresentation against Charles. It's time he did exactly what Charles asks - which was very reasonable.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Charles - you have helped show us what a useless mayor we have, how he has no regard for Charter rights to free speech but, most of all, you have clearly caused him so much stress that he now looks like s**t! Is it just me, or does is sound like he is whistling, trying to keep his teeth in and talk at the same time???

When I requested that Google remove untrue defamatory and libelous comments about me from a very offensive blogsite I was required to state the specific law that was violated. The City did not do that, so, as noted in a post above, Google are very hypocritical and do not apply their so called rules fairly or lawfully.
